Church Newsletter Objectives

The New Jersey Indian Church was founded 12 years ago.  It was founded on the biblical mandates of ecumenism and evangelism.  When the congregation was started we published a newsletter called Dharma to promote the activities and programs of the congregation.  After a year, the newsletter was rechristened as CONTACT.  Although enormous effort went into publishing, printing and mailing the newsletter, the circulation was limited to the members of our congregation and extended circle of friends.  After a few years the newsletter ceased to be published. 

NJIC is small; but its influence spreads far beyond its parish settings.  The Princeton Consultation held on June 7th, 2007 is a case in point.  It was organized by the efforts of the congregation members.  The projects currently under consideration -- Book projects (two books are in the pipeline), Study Commission, Sun Stoves for India, Asian Indian Church leaders’ Training program etc. -- would carry the mission of the church farther into ecumenical contexts than its current parish settings.  As such, we have christened this news quarterly as the “Asian Indian Church Leader.”  Leadership is a crucial ingredient of any movement.  We need to raise leaders with vision and passion.  “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). The emphasis of this news quarterly will be on nurturing leadership for Asian Indian ministries and congregations in North America .  The contents covered in the bulletin will not be limited to our congregational activities and programs.  The quarterly will cover current events, trends (both national and international), offer devotional and inspirational studies and propose programs and projects for the Asian Indian Diaspora in North America .  To sustain these efforts and to keep in touch with a wide range of Christian leaders, it is essential that we use a medium like this news quarterly.   We deeply appreciate Mrs. Miriam Kamal and Mr. Ravi Bhaskar for volunteering to serve as editors and manage the website for the Asian Indian Church Leader.  We intend to distribute and mail this quarterly free of cost to everyone who write in and requests for it.  This will also be mailed to the friends of CSI and to the ecumenical partners of the Church of South India .  We solicit your support, participation and contributions.  Please be our eyes and ears on the field and send in news items, photos, commentaries etc.   If you want to know more about the quarterly, please contact the pastor, or the editors.
